McCarty Sports Foundation
The Leon A. McCarty Youth Sports Foundation (LAMSF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to increasing and improving youth sports participation in the City of Sacramento, Council District 6.  The LAMSF provides grants of up to $100 a year to youth living in Council District 6 to finance he required registration fees associated with school or community sports organizations.  Priority is given to socio-economically disadvantaged youth who also participate in the free school lunch program.

It is our belief that sports provide youth with invaluable physical, mental and social benefits, as well as a physical outlet that contributes to their overall well being, regardless of athletic ability.  The variety of available sports afford youth with constructive activities and group interactions that encourage positive competition, self esteem, self discipline, positive role modeling, and the development of crucial social skills.

The LAMSF firmly believes that youth participation in after-school activities, such as sports programs, serves as a benefit for the whole community.  These activities provide youth with positive and constructive outlets and an opportunity to avoid participation in gangs, vandalism, violence and other unproductive activities that are detrimental to our community.

It is our vision that every young person with an interest in sports plays in a high quality program that promotes development of strong bodies, minds and character.
