Sacramento, Council District 6. The LAMSF provides grants
of up to $100 a year to youth living in Council District 6 to
finance he required registration fees associated with school or
community sports organizations. Priority is given to
socio-economically disadvantaged youth who also participate in
the free school lunch program.It is our belief that sports provide youth with invaluable physical, mental and social benefits, as well as a physical outlet that contributes to
their overall well
being, regardless of athletic ability. The variety of
available sports afford youth with constructive activities and
group interactions that encourage positive competition, self
esteem, self discipline, positive role modeling, and the
development of crucial social skills.The LAMSF firmly believes that youth participation in after-school activities, such as sports programs, serves as a benefit for the whole community. These activities provide youth with positive and constructive outlets and an opportunity to avoid participation in gangs, vandalism, violence and other
unproductive activities that are detrimental to our
community.It is our vision that every young person with an interest in sports plays in a high quality program that promotes development of strong bodies, minds and character.
